4. Production of the program

• Is the audio material authentic, i.e., presented by native speakers at native speed?
• Where are the programs produced?
• What regional accents are featured?
• Does Puerta del Sol feature mostly Iberian Spanish or Latin American Spanish?

All of the programs feature professional European broadcasters speaking as though they were on the air. Thus, all the programs have the feel of actual broadcasts. While the programs are produced expressly for the purpose of cultural and linguistic instruction and are not broadcast anywhere, some of the interviews and features have been previously broadcast as parts of other news programs. Champs-Elysées is produced in Paris and Luxembourg; it focuses on Paris but includes material from the French provinces as well as other Francophone countries. Schau ins Land is compiled from segments produced in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Acquerello italiano is produced in Rome and is limited in scope to Italy. Puerta del Sol is produced in Madrid and, as of issue 14-01, focuses on world Spanish. The program is co-hosted by Toni Garrido from Spain and Maria Fernanda Lencina from Argentina. Approximately half the features on the program are from Spain and half from Latin American countries.
