3. Does the booklet come with a translation?

We have deliberately chosen not to provide a translation in the main booklets since we have found from experience that this can cause problems for language learners at an intermediate level who are looking to express themselves with greater finesse and precision. Because languages do not translate word for word, a meaning-based translation can be confusing or even misleading. Instead, we provide a complete, verbatim transcript with an extensive glossary, providing explanations and translations of difficult vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. However, as a service to French beginners who find the main program a challenge we added selective translation to Champs-Elysées Plus. Starting with issue 22-09, the four features covered in the Champs-Elysées Plus audio CD and supplement booklet will also come with a complete translation set out at the back of the booklet. The translations are fairly literal, but they offer subscribers, especially those learners with a more basic level, another way to get the most out of the rich program content.
